Google Paid $12K To Babson Student Who Briefly Owned Google.com

WELLESLEY (CBS) – Google is revealing just how much it forked over to a Babson College student who owned Google.com for about one minute.

In September, MBA candidate Sanmay Ved blogged about how he was able to buy the search engine's homepage for just $12. He received a cancellation notice shortly after.

In a recent post on its security blog, Google disclosed that it initially offered Ved $6,006.13 (it spells out Google) and then doubled the amount when he said he wanted to donate it to a charity for education in India.

Google says it paid more than $200,000 in 2015 to researchers who helped identify security shortcomings.
