Goldman Sachs Helping New England Revolution Finance Stadium Plan
BOSTON (AP) -- The New England Revolution have brought in Goldman Sachs to help put together the financing for a soccer-only stadium in Boston, according to a report.
Boston.com reported that the Major League Soccer team has been working with the New York investment firm since at least December. The website said it obtained documents obtained through a public records request that noted Goldman Sach's intentions of serving as an "underwriter on a future transaction."
The Revolution have shared a 65,000-seat stadium with the NFL's New England Patriots, who are also owned by Robert Kraft, since joining MLS as a charter member in 1996. But as the league has expanded, it has preferred soccer-specific stadiums with a capacity closer to 30,000.
The Revolution have floated several attempts for their own stadium, so far with no success.
A spokeswoman for the Revolution did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
