Gold Stars, Penalty Flags: Gray Shines, Brady Has Forgettable First Half Against Colts
BOSTON (CBS) -- What a big victory for the Patriots coming off their bye week. Many thought Sunday's game against the Colts would be a tough test for the team, but now it's six straight wins and they are rolling.
Here are your gold stars and penalty flags from Sunday's 42-20 win over the Colts:
The Gold Stars
- Jonas Gray gets a gold star. You knew he was going to get some pub after his game on Sunday, racking up 201 yards and four touchdowns on 38 carries. Gray is a humble kid an understands his role on the team, and now is making the most of his opportunity. He was named the AFC offensive player of the week on Wednesday, and good for him. The former practice squad player is a kid that everyone can pull for.
- The Pats offensive line gets a gold star. They just man handled the Colts defensive line. They pushed them around and made holes that you could have driven a truck through. This was the most physical game I have seen the Pats 0-line play in a while.
- Devin McCourty gets a gold star. At the beginning of the game, many people thought McCourty would play a big role in this one and they were right. He had an interception and played defensive QB in getting guys lined up and making the right calls. He is once again having a solid season.
The Penalty Flags
- Tom Brady gets a penalty flag. His first half was terrible, and his interception right before the break was one of the worst throws I have ever seen him make. Brady rebounded and played well in the second half, but his first two quarters were forgettable.
- Whomever is matching up against the tight end gets a penalty flag. This has been an ongoing problem. The Pats have not been able to contain tight ends this season, and Coby Fleener had a great day. The Pats will need to tighten this up, because it could come back to bite them.
