Game Of Jones: Could Dante Scarnecchia Fix Patriots Offensive Line?
BOSTON (CBS) - Thursday night means it's time for some Role Play on The Adam Jones Show's Game Of Jones!
Here are the questions:
- You are Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. What happened with Aaron Dobson?
Jones as McDaniels: "I was trying to coach him, and he snapped back at me saying I need to call better plays, which is what a lot of your talk radio callers are doing over the past year-plus. He used a lot of colorful language about how the offense needs to be run this season."
- You are retired Patriots assistant coach Dante Scarnecchia. How quickly could you fix the Patriots offensive line mess?
Jones as Scar: "I could have fixed it by Week 2. Week 1? Okay I would have had a bad week. Everyone has a bad week. I could have fixed it by Week freakin' 2! I wouldn't have been an advocate for trading Logan Mankins. Maybe if I were still here Bill would have listened to me and never traded away Mankins in the first place. I'd like to think I had that much pull. I did it for decades here in New England and I was never given the most talent on the offensive line. Ever. You give me undrafted guys, ex-wrestlers and I can figure it out by Week 2."
- You are Bruins center Ryan Spooner, recently sent down to Providence. Evidently you don't play that much defense. What does Claude Julien have against you?
Jones as Spooner: "Let me give you an analogy. You know how your parents and grandparents don't really understand what the kids are into? They don't understand the music, your taste in movies, television shows, and things of that nature. They're stuck in their ways. They get to a certain age and they like what they like. Same thing with Claude Julien. He's not into this new idea of a faster, more skilled fourth line."
- You are A's general manager Billy Beane. If given another chance, would you still have traded Yoenis Cespedes for Jon Lester?
Jones as Beane: "Sure. Why? Is that what lost us the playoff game the other night? Don't you know the playoffs are all about luck? It's a crapshoot. There's nothing I can do as a general manager once the playoffs start. And if you don't get that then you're not a baseball guy like I am. Talk to a BBWAA member they'll back me up on this. I'm Billy Beane. I don't make mistakes. I don't make bad trades. Ever."
- You are Red Sox senior advisor Dr. Charles Steinberg. How do you think the Derek Jeter ceremony went over at Fenway Park? It's received a lot of criticism.
Jones as Steinberg: "I would say strong to quite strong. Did you see those boots we got him? Those are limited edition L.L. Bean boots. We weren't able to get Aretha Franklin, that's the only thing I regret."
