Friend Of Boston Marathon Bomber Drops Appeal
BOSTON (CBS) – A friend of the Boston Marathon bomber has dropped his appeal after being convicted on charges of obstruction of justice.
In court papers filed late Thursday, Azamat Tazhayakov dropped his appeal. Earlier this month he was sentenced to 42 months in prison.
The friend of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was convicted on charges of obstruction of justice and conspiracy for removing Tsarnaev's backback and laptop from his dorm room with another friend in the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombings.
Tazhayakov tearfully apologized to the court before being sentenced earlier this month, saying Tsarnaev's actions made him sick.
Tsarnaev was convicted of the 2013 bombings and sentenced to the death penalty.
