Fresh Snowfall Attracts Skiers & Snowboarders To NH Mountains
LINCOLN, NH (CBS) - Skiers and snowboarders headed up Loon Mountain Thursday morning to take advantage of a nice gift from above -- plenty of fresh snowfall.
Many ski areas in northern New Hampshire got more than a foot of new snow, including Cannon which received close to 24 inches.
At Loon, the ski area received 13 inches of snow at the summit.
"It's all like money in the bank for us," said Greg Kwasnik, communications manager for Loon. "The more snow we can get in late March, the better the spring skiing will be."
Officials with Ski New Hampshire say this season is shaping up to be similar to last season, which was the fifth best on record.
"It's been almost the perfect season because consistent cold weather allowed us to make a ton of snow," said Kwasnik. "It didn't melt so we're in really good shape."
Still there were some tough conditions on the slopes today because of frigid temperatures and wind.
