Framingham Girl Battling Brain Tumor Gets Puppy From Make-A-Wish

BOSTON (CBS) - It's a wish come true for a Framingham girl.

Just weeks before her 10th birthday, Hailey Torres met the newest member of her family: a Yorkie-Poo puppy.

Hailey is battling a brain tumor and named her new dog Asher which means happy and blessed. She told Make a Wish of Massachusetts and Rhode Island she wanted an energetic dog to help get her through the tougher times.

Hailey got Asher on Thursday when a professional puppy nanny flew with the dog from Philadelphia to Logan Airport.

Hailey and her family met them at baggage claim.

She's looking forward to just about everything. "Give him showers, take him out for walks, feed him," said Hailey.

Banfield Pet Hospital in Northborough plans to roll out the red carpet for Hailey and her new best friend. On Monday, they'll give the puppy a check-up and offered the dog a free year of preventative care.
