Foxboro High Remembers Sam Berns With 1K Paper Cranes
FOXBORO (CBS)- Sam Berns may be gone from the halls of Foxboro High, but he is certainly not forgotten.

The teenager, who passed away in January from Progeria, a rare rapid aging disease, has been commemorated in the form of brightly colored paper cranes. A thousand of them float in the hallway by the cafeteria.
Carolyn Door, a student who knew Sam well, used the paper crane project to channel her grief. She made them in class until her thumbs were raw and her hands were covered in paper cuts.
"It helped me come to terms with what had happened and how the world lost such an amazing person" Moore told WBZ NewsRadio 1030.
Sam's legacy lives on with the Progeria Research Foundation, a non-profit founded by his parents.
