Florida Teen Makes Concert Dreams Come True For Cancer Patients
BOSTON (CBS) -- When Imagine Dragons played the TD Garden Wednesday night, 13-year-old Lindsea Taylor wasn't in the audience, even though she had tickets.
The Florida teenager won a contest for seats at every concert on the band's current tour. Taylor knew she wouldn't be able to travel to every show, but she didn't want to let the tickets go to waste.
Inspired by a beloved aunt who recently died of melanoma, Taylor had an idea.
"Why don't we give it to cancer patients around the country?" she said. "My parents were both like, 'oh my gosh, that's such a good idea.'"
So far, 87 people impacted by cancer have been able to go to Imagine Dragon shows thanks to Taylor's generosity.
For the Boston show, Taylor reached out to Cancer Support Community MA South Shore, a division of Norwell Visiting Nurse Association (NVNA) Foundation, and got a hold of breast cancer patient Kim Santagata of Holbrook. The 26-year-old happens to be an Imagine Dragons fan.
"I thought this was just the coolest thing ever," said Santagata, who finished her cancer treatments a few months ago. "I thought it was so sweet of her."
Taylor's only request is that Santagata and others send her a selfie from the concert. She hopes to collect their pictures and turn them into a video with Imagine Dragons music.
