Felger & Mazz: Winner Of Bruins-Canadiens Will Represent Eastern Conference In Cup Finals

BOSTON (CBS) - The New York Rangers punched their ticket to the Eastern Conference Finals Tuesday night after beating Pittsburgh in seven games, and now they await the winner of Wednesday night's matchup between the Montreal Canadiens and the Boston Bruins to find out their next opponent.

However, the next round is merely a formality in the eyes of 98.5 The Sports Hub's Felger & Massarotti show.

The winner of tonight's Bruins-Canadiens Game 7 is headed to the Stanley Cup.

"This has felt like the Bruins year. This is their year. They're the best team in hockey in the regular season. They've got a lot of things going for them. It's a down year for the rest of the Eastern Conference. They should be in the Conference Finals and they should be in the Cup Finals. That's the kind of year it's been. If they blow it because they can't hit open nets against Montreal it's gonna make for a real long, painful offseason," said Felger.

"I take nothing for granted, but I do feel whoever wins this game is going to be playing for the Cup. I don't think the Rangers are beating either one of them," added Mazz.

"This is the Eastern Conference Finals tonight," said Felger.

"It feels that way," said Mazz.

"I think the Rangers will give both these teams a good run. It'll be a competitive series whoever goes on to face Alain Vigneault, the Rangers, Hank Lundqvist and all that. It'll be a competitive series. But I think the winner tonight faces Chicago for the Stanley Cup," concluded Felger.
