Felger & Mazz: Don Sweeney's Bruins To-Do List
BOSTON (CBS) - Peter Chiarelli now calls Edmonton home, and after a month-long search the Bruins finally revealed who their next general manager will be.
The Bruins introduced Don Sweeney as the franchise's eighth general manager at TD Garden Wednesday afternoon, and "as of today" Claude Julien will remain as the team's head coach.
Sweeney has some tough decisions facing him with this Bruins team, so 98.5 The Sports Hub's Felger & Massarotti laid out their most glaring needs in list-form to start the show.
Don Sweeney's To-Do List According To Felger & Mazz:
1. Head Coach
Fire him? Keep him?
2. First Line Winger
Given that the Oilers have a glut of young forwards, would Peter Chiarelli be willing to make a deal involving, say, Taylor Hall? Jordan Eberle?
3. Milan Lucic
Lucic has one more year left on his contract at $6 million. Will Sweeney trade off Lucic for assets, or make him play out the season in a contract year?
4. Top-4 Defenseman
As a Bruins fan, are you comfortable with a top-line pairing of Chara-Hamilton and a second-line pairing of Seidenberg-Krug? Is Torey Krug a top-four defenseman? Don Sweeney needs to figure that thing out.
5. Not The Right Fit
Don Sweeney should see what he can get for Loui Eriksson, Reilly Smith and/or Chris Kelly.
What do you think should be Sweeney's first order of business?
