Victims ID'd In Fatal Fall River Crash
FALL RIVER (CBS) -- The two men killed in a single-car crash on Route 24 early Sunday morning have been identified.
Massachusetts State Police said Joseph Burnham, 36, and Laurence Wheeler, 23, both of Providence, Rhode Island, were killed in the crash.
They said Burnham was driving his 2003 Mercury in the northbound lane just south of Exit 8A around 1:35 a.m. Sunday when it went off the road and hit a tree.
Burnham and Wheeler were taken to Charlton Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
Another 23-year-old passenger in the car was taken to Rhode Island Hospital. The extent of that passenger's injuries wasn't yet known.
There was no word yet on the cause of the crash.
