'Elusive Emu' Wandering Around New Hampshire Town

BOW, N.H. (CBS) -- There's an emu on the loose in Bow, New Hampshire.

"Over the last two days we have had several reports of an emu wandering around town," Bow police said in a Facebook post Sunday.

Officials say there have been reported sightings of the emu on Hunter Drive, Brown Hill and Hampshire Hills.

It's not yet clear who owns the emu or where it usually lives.

"Some people have them on farms, I know they raise them for meat," a Bow police dispatcher told WBZ NewsRadio 1030. "We've checked the farms in the area and nobody has claimed it."

A video shared by police shows the "elusive emu" taking a stroll through the woods.

"Anyone with information on where this big fella belongs please call our dispatch center 603-228-0511," police said.
