18-Month-Old Left In Shopping Cart In Parking Lot Of Easton Target
EASTON, Mass. (CBS) - An 18-month-old was left behind in a shopping carriage in the parking lot of a Target store, police said.
The toddler, who was found unattended Saturday afternoon, appeared unharmed, police said. He was evaluated by Easton Police and Fire before being transported to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton for further evaluation.
Some shoppers shared their concerns about the incident.
"How do you not notice?" asked Nellie Boling.
"That is a little crazy, you know. I don't know if they were on the phone or whatever, if they got a little distracted, but your kids are the most important thing," Dan Lavalle said.
Officers responded to the Target store on Robert Drive at 1 p.m.
Witnesses told police the toddler was seen with two women and two men while shopping inside of Target. Video surveillance shows that the four adults left the area in a Toyota SUV with Maine registration plates.
About an hour later, just after 2 p.m., Easton police received a call from a man saying he accidentally left a child at Target.
"It's is a really bad place to leave a baby," said shopper Elizabeth Nowinski.
Easton Police and the state Department of Children and Families are investigating.
