Man Stabbed To Death In East Boston

EAST BOSTON (CBS) -- Police are searching for a suspect after a man was stabbed to death in East Boston Wednesday morning.

Police said the victim, an unidentified man in his 20s, was stabbed after an altercation on Paris Street around 6:54 a.m. Wednesday.

"It appears that there was some type of an altercation where the victim confronted the suspect, an altercation ensued, and the victim was stabbed," said Boston Police Superintendent Bernard O'Rourke.

A Good Samaritan was seen tending to the man in a video obtained by WBZ, at one point ripping off her own shirt to use as a tourniquet.

Several people rushed to help the man, who suffered multiple stab wounds to his torso.

He was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he died.

Police say the killer is on the run, and they're asking the public to keep an eye out. They said a red vehicle was seen fleeing the scene.

"We did see a red motor vehicle that was fleeing the scene with an individual," said O'Rourke.

Investigators spent hours collecting evidence and talking to people who live on the street. They say there has been trouble here before, and the address of the building the man was stabbed in front of is known to them.

"There have been multiple calls down here for several issues, and some drug activity," said O'Rourke.

Residents say they're upset, but not surprised, to see this kind of violence in their neighborhood.

"I feel sad about what happened, but that's all I can say," one man told WBZ-TV's Anna Meiler.
