Earthquake Felt In Southeastern Mass.

BOSTON (CBS) - An earthquake was felt on the South Coast of Massachusetts Tuesday evening.

The US Geological Survey says the 2.4 magnitude quake was reported near the New Bedford/Dartmouth line at 5:46 p.m.

There were no major injuries or damage reported.

The USGS considers the earthquake to be minor, but says it was felt across a wide area because it occurred close to the surface.

According to the USGS, moderately damaging earthquakes occur in New England every few decades. Smaller earthquakes are felt about twice a year.
