EA Sports Roasts Seahawks On Twitter For Super Bowl Failure
BOSTON (CBS) -- In the modern day era where BRANDS reign supreme, branded tweets are all too often very, very lame.
Yet EA Sports, the makers of all the popular sports video games, managed to do the impossible and actually fire off a couple of funny tweets this week. And they came at the expense of the Seahawks.
It began when the EA folks announced that Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch has the highest rating of any running back in this year's Madden game. Lynch was given a 96 overall rating, which is tops in the NFL, but it wasn't enough to satisfy the Seahawks. The team posted a blog which argued the 98 rating for "Trucking" should be a 99.
C'mon @EAMaddenNFL! What's a Beast got to do to get a 99 TRUCKING? [http://t.co/fxhgqQcdYX]#Madden16 pic.twitter.com/MWB3dYuPZ8

About an hour-and-a-half later, EA Sports responded with a knockout blow.

Ouch.
The tweet, of course, refers to the Seahawks' decision to pass the football from the 1-yard line in the final minute of Super Bowl XLIX instead of handing off to Lynch, who had already rushed for 102 yards on 24 carries that night. You know the rest: Malcolm Butler intercepted Russell Wilson, it was deemed the worst play call in NFL history, and the Seahawks had to watch the Patriots celebrate on the University of Phoenix turf (after starting a fight with them).
The Seahawks Twitter account proved to be good sports about the exchange, offering up a legendary Lynch quote.

And to that, the EA folks even had another humorous reply.

Well done, all around. That's how brand-tweet, people.
