Suspect In Downtown Boston Robberies Arrested
BOSTON (CBS) -- Police arrested a man suspected of robbing people in Downtown Boston with a 12-inch kitchen knife.
Jose Manuel Lopez, 30, of Boston, was arrested Monday and charged with armed robbery, assault and battery on an elderly/disabled person, and assault by means of a dangerous weapon (a knife).
A second man involved in the robberies, last seen wearing a green and black jacket and multi-colored knit hat, is still being sought.
Around 8:15 Monday morning, Boston Police officers on patrol on Boylston Street saw a man who fit the description of one of the suspects wanted in the January robberies. Using a Boston Regional Intelligence Center bulletin, they confirmed that the man, Lopez, was the same suspect pictured wearing a black North Face jacket and black hat, seen above on the right, and placed him under arrest.
The two attacks occurred downtown during daylight hours, and both involved the man attacking from behind.
Anyone with information about the second man is asked to contact the Boston Police Department.
