Dorchester Man Allegedly Exposes Himself, Assaults MBTA Passenger

BOSTON (CBS) – Police arrested a Dorchester man who is accused of an unprovoked attack on a woman at the Chinatown MBTA station just minutes after allegedly exposing himself to another woman.

Transit police were called to the Chinatown station at about 1:15 p.m. on Thursday for a report of a woman being assaulted.

Officers found Anthony Samuel, 25, of Dorchester, on the inbound platform being restrained by another passenger.

Multiple witnesses told police that Samuel was sitting next to a 63-year-old woman when he "suddenly and without provocation" started punching the woman in the head.

Other passengers jumped in to stop the alleged assault.

Samuel was arrested on charges of assault and battery of an elderly person.

While police were completing the arrest, another woman told officers that about 15 minutes earlier at the Ruggles MBTA station, Samuel allegedly exposed himself to her.

Open and gross lewdness was added to Samuel's charges.

Samuel was arraigned Friday in Boston Municipal Court.

He was ordered held and is undergoing a mental health evaluation.

The woman was taken to Tufts Medical Center.
