At NH Event, Trump Touts Tom Brady Among 'Great Friends' In New England
PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (CBS) – Tom Brady may have elected not to talk about Donald Trump earlier this week, but the Republican presidential candidate praised the quarterback as his "great friend" during an appearance Saturday in New Hampshire.
Trump appeared at a campaign event Saturday afternoon at a car dealership in Portsmouth.
"I have so many great friends in New England, including Tom Brady," Trump boasted to the crowd. "How good is Tom?"
Also during the event, Trump referenced Brady's Patriots when discussing his running mate Mike Pence's performance in the vice presidential debate against Tim Kaine.
"That was like the New England Patriots playing my high school football team," he said.
Trump spent time during the campaign speech discussing the state's opioid epidemic, the economy and what he believes to be a "rigged" election.
He also attacked Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, suggesting the candidates should be drug tested before the third and final presidential debate.
