Dominican Festival in Boston Making History
August 22, 2015
The Dominican community in Boston made history this past weekend as they celebrated their festival for the very first time in the heart of Boston! Thousands of Dominicans and non-Dominicans took part of the huge celebration which took place last Sunday at Boston City Hall Plaza. This was a week-long celebration, with events like: Women's Day, Youth Day, Sports Day, a Health Fair and much more! There was also a big parade down Boylston Street, which started right in front of the Hynes Convention Center. The success of the Dominican Festival of Boston was evident - this was definitely a historic moment for all Dominicans! But, it was also during this great celebration that a group of young teenagers decided to start a fight, where three police officers were hurt and various teenagers ended up in jail. The festival's organizing committee held a press conference earlier this week and according them, the festival itself was on the news... but, for all the wrong reasons. On this edition of Centro, WBZ's Yadires Nova-Salcedo talks with Milagros Marte, member of the festival's organizing committee in the English version of Centro and with the Luis Matos, the Festival's General Coordinator in the Spanish version which is available on our website www.cbsboston.com/centro. Tune in!
NOTE: You can watch both the English and Spanish versions of Centro anytime, visiting our website www.cbsboston.com/centro.
