Disabled Green Line Train Frustrates T Riders In Boston

BOSTON (CBS) -- The MBTA's Green Line station at Copley Square was shut down on Sunday afternoon after a train heading outbound became disabled, frustrating passengers trying to reach their destinations.

The incident happened around 1:30 p.m. at the Boston T station.

"It's very stressful and makes it hard to live here (when you) don't have a car and rely on public transportation," said rider Emma Futhey. "I'm not really surprised. There is always some kind of Red Line or Green Line problem."

MBTA officials say hundreds of passengers had to evacuate the train.

"It's fine as long as no one was hurt," said a passenger. "We can manage."

Commuters were told they had to take shuttle buses between Arlington and Blandford stations, which also became confusing and crowded for them.

"They told us to come here to get on the bus? I'm here, but I don't know what direction I am going yet," said one rider.

"It's been very frustrating because I have to clock in and I have to make the hours," said a passenger.

Rider Kayla Lantos says "It's nothing compared to over the winter. I once spent three hours waiting for a train that never came."

The trains were back on-line later in the afternoon.

The MBTA has been under fire this past year because of poor service, delays, and infrastructure concerns.
