Diego Fagundez Previews Revolution's Home Opener On Toucher & Rich

BOSTON (CBS) -- Toucher and Rich spoke to New England Revolution star and high school senior Diego Fagundez on Thursday morning, who talked about balancing life in the MLS and finishing high school.

The 19-year-old, whose 13 goals in 2013 were fifth in the MLS and the most every scored by a teenager,  is just a few credits away from graduating, which he's looking forward to - as well as the upcoming season and Saturday's home opener against Vancouver.

It hasn't been easy balancing school and soccer for Fagundez, who is one exam away from graduating in May. But despite his stardom, he has remained humble thanks to those around him.

"It's definitely family and friends, and girlfriends keep me humble. You only live once and you don't know what is going to happen the next day. You can't be angry or unhappy. I'm doing what I love to do, and that's play soccer. I can't complain, so I need to keep grounded and keep doing what I'm doing, stay humble."

"It would mean so much to me because it was one of those where I went through the toughest parts, where I didn't want to finish school but I knew I had to," he said of graduating in May. "A lot of people got me through it. My girlfriend was one person who pushed me and didn't let me quick. When I'm done I'll be happy that I can focus on soccer and not school, and I'll have my diploma."

On the field, the Revolution have dropped their first two matches of the season, getting shut out in both. Fagundez and the Revs are not only hoping to put a goal on the stat sheet this Saturday, but give their faithful fans a win.

"The first one is the hardest," he said. "Hopefully we get the first one at home with all the fans there, cheering us on. They deserve one, and we have to start scoring and get three points. We aren't happy with the way we've started and we're excited to come home, be in front of our fans, and hopefully get the result for them."
