DERRY, N.H. (CBS) – A man and his dog were rescued from a New Hampshire lake after the pair's kayak overturned.

Just before 9 a.m. on Thursday, a 911 caller said a kayak had flipped over on Beaver Lake in Derry.

Rescuers found a man in the water along with a dog. Both were struggling to stay afloat and neither was wearing a life jacket.

A bystander was able to rescue the dog.

The Derry Marine Unit's Lt. Michael Stanhope went onto the lake in a kayak and pulled the struggling man from the water.

He was treated at the scene and transported to Elliot Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The dog was uninjured in the incident.
