Suspect in custody after Amber Alert in Massachusetts

DARTMOUTH – Two suspects are in custody and a 6-month old boy has been found along with his mother after an Amber Alert was issued out of Dartmouth.

At about 11:22 a.m., Dartmouth Police responded to a home on Tucker Road for a report of several people arguing. A man told police that a suspect, later identified as 21-year-old Jeremias Cabral of Fall River, had threatened him with a knife and stole his cell phone. 

The man also told officers that Cabral forced a woman and her infant into a car operated by 28-year-old Michael Abrantes of Fall River. The car fled the scene.

At about 2 p.m., State Police issued an Amber Alert, believing the woman and her child were in danger. 

A short time later, the woman and her child were found unharmed in Fall River and Cabral and Abrantes were taken into custody. 

The woman told police she and her child were not abducted and left willingly without being threatened. 

Cabral has been charged with assault with dangerous weapon and larceny. Abrantes was charged with drug possession.
