Darrelle Revis Misses Patriots Ring Party Due To Prior Commitment
BOSTON (CBS) -- As the Patriots gathered to pick up their latest piece of jewelry at Robert Kraft's house on Sunday night, there was one notable absence.
It's an absence Patriots fans will notice a lot this coming season when the team's defense takes the field.
Darrelle Revis, who signed a five-year, $70 million contract with the Jets after his one season in New England, was not on hand Sunday when the Patriots received their Super Bowl XLIX rings. He missed the event due to a prior commitment, according to ESPN New York's Rich Cimini.

Instead, Revis' mother, Diana Askew, received the ring in the All-Pro corner's place.
While Revis wasn't on hand, other Patriots who found new homes over the offseason attended Sunday's ring party. Running back Stevan Ridley (signed with Jets), running back Shane Vereen (signed with Giants) and nose tackle Vince Wilfork (released and signed with Texans) were all on hand for the festivities.
The Patriots should have just waited and given Revis his ring on October 25, in front of Jets fans, when the Patriots face New York at MetLife Stadium.
Revis was with his former teammates when they made their visit to the White House back on April 23, but made some interesting comments on the DeflateGate mess last month that probably soured any lasting relationships on the team.
