Woman found dead in "suspicious" shooting at Danville, NH home

DANVILLE, N.H. - A woman was found shot to death at a home in southern New Hampshire in an incident police are calling "suspicious."

Officers found the woman after they were called to a house on Back Road in Danville late Thursday night. Attorney General John Formella's office said she died from "an apparent gunshot wound" but an autopsy was scheduled for Friday. Her name has not been released. A neighbor told WBZ TV that they heard rapid gunfire.

"I can tell you the investigation is very much open and ongoing," said Senior Assistant Attorney General Ben Agati. "We're trying to figure out exactly what happened."

A State Police crime unit truck was parked outside the house Friday and the property was surrounded by crime scene tape.

"What could have possibly happened to take someone's life like that?" said neighbor Carol Cosgrove. "We're nervous, like OK, are we OK? Especially when they say they don't have any suspects in but they're telling us we're safe. You still wonder. Until they find out exactly what happened, you still wonder, are we safe? Are we OK?"

Danville is about 45 miles north of Boston.
