Damage In Methuen Likely Caused By Microburst

METHUEN (CBS) - The National Weather Service says it appears to have been a microburst that went through several areas Thursday including Methuen.

The city saw many trees and utility lines down.

"We've had Verizon, we've had National Grid," said Methuen resident Candi Susi. "Slowly but surely they're putting up wires."

A roof blew off Hughes Motor on Riverside Drive and many residents were picking up debris.

Linda Brody's front door was shattered.

"The door I assume was hit by a branch," said Brody.

Debbie Lister spent part of Friday cleaning up her yard after spending the last eight weeks preparing it for an upcoming baby shower. But despite the mess she knows she's lucky.

"Thank God nobody got hurt," said Lister. "I really do count my blessings."
