Accused Wedding Shooter Dale Holloway Outside Court: 'My Father Was Murdered'

PELHAM, N.H. (CBS/AP) — The man charged with shooting a bishop and a bride during a wedding at a Pelham church is being held without bail. "My father was murdered," Dale Holloway told WBZ-TV as he left the courthouse.

Holloway, 37, waived his right to an arraignment Tuesday afternoon in Hillsborough County Superior Court in Nashua.

Prosecutors said he went into the New England Pentecostal Ministries Saturday morning and shot 75-year-old church bishop Stanley Choate and the bride, 60-year-old Claire McMullen, before guests pinned Holloway to the ground.

Choate was shot in the chest, McMullen was shot in the arm and the groom, Mark Castiglione, suffered minor injuries when he was hit in the head by an object. All three are recovering.

"Mr. Holloway is, in fact, the step-son of Mr. Garcia who again was killed in Londonderry. Currently alleged to having committed that crime is, specifically, Mr. Castiglione's son, Brandon. And so, as a result, there is some connection that is there. We're investigating what the exact motives are," said Sr. Assistant Attorney General Ben Agati.

"I don't think I'm comfortable saying it's just a revenge shooting at this point, we're still investigating the other aspects of this," he added.

Prosecutors said Holloway is now charged with attempted murder for shooting Choate, second-degree assault for shooting McMullen, and simple assault for injuring Castiglione. He's also charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm. By waiving his arraignment, an automatic not guilty plea was submitted on Holloway's behalf Tuesday. He's due back in court October 22 for an evidentiary bail hearing.

Holloway was previously convicted of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault to kill in Massachusetts back in 2003.
