DA: Machete-Wielding Man Killed By Salisbury Police Had Attacked Wife, Man

SALISBURY (CBS) – A man shot and killed by Salisbury Police Thursday had attacked his wife and another person, investigators said.

The Essex District Attorney's Office identified the man Friday as 29-year-old Nicolas Foster.

Officers were called to a domestic dispute on Cable Avenue Thursday afternoon and found Foster's wife and another person, described by the D.A. only as a "male victim," suffering from severe knife wounds.

Both were still in the hospital Friday in stable condition.

Investigators say Foster slammed his car into a responding police SUV when he tried to escape.

When he got out of the car with a machete, an officer fired a Taser and then dropped him with several gunshots.

"Information concerning the identity of the male victim is not being released at this time," Essex District Attorney spokeswoman Carrie Kimball Monahan said in a statement Friday.
