Crews Tear Down Worcester Home After Roof Collapses

WORCESTER (CBS) - A Worcester home that was in danger of collapsing was torn down Wednesday.

Heavy snow and ice became too much for the abandoned home on Eastern Ave. to handle.

Neighbors say they heard the roof of the triple-decker start to collapse at about 1:30 p.m.

"If that comes down, that's coming through my wall and then I'd be dead," neighbor Troy Coutu said.

Surrounding homes were evacuated as a wrecking crew took the damaged building down.

Fire officials say the partial collapse should serve as a warning for homeowners to clear the snow of their roofs.
