Crews Battling Landfill Fire In Nantucket

NANTUCKET (CBS) - Firefighters are battling a fire at a landfill in the Madaket section of Nantucket, according to police.

The fire is burning in a pile of pallets and compost, according to Nantucket Police. The fire is expected to last several hours.

Firefighters were called to the scene around 10:15 a.m., according to the Nantucket Inquirer & Mirror.

Smoke has been visible for miles and employees working near the landfill have been evacuated.
