Comm Ave Bridge Opening Pushed Back Due To Construction Delays

BOSTON (CBS) – The reopening of the Comm Ave bridge has been pushed back several days due to construction delays.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation said the bridge will not open until at least mid-week.

It was scheduled to open on Monday.

MassDOT said it is taking longer than expected to place rail and grout.

"The superstructure work underneath the bridge that required us to stage from the Mass Pike did get done. We're not going to be going back on to the Mass Pike and closing down any lanes so the Mass Pike will continue. There's occasional closures during off peak hours but we are done down there," said Transportation Secretary Stephanie Pollack.

In the meantime, shuttle buses will continue running for Green Line B branch riders, and bus routes will remain detoured until the work wraps up.

Businesses in the area said they are looking forward to the area returning to normal.

Cyclists have benefitted from the reduced car traffic though.
