Last-Minute Shoppers Flock To Boston Stores On Christmas Eve

BOSTON (CBS) -- You may have finished your Christmas shopping weeks ago, but some procrastinators were purchasing last-minute gifts Thursday, the day before the holiday.

Shoppers--some in suits, others in sleepwear--searched for everything from big-ticket items to stocking stuffers to ugly Christmas sweaters.

Matt Scriven said waiting until the last minute to buy gifts for his loved ones is nothing new for him.

"I like to figure out what I need for everybody before I go ahead and buy it," Scriven said.

Savvy shoppers will tell you, it's not when you shop, it's where you shop. Shopper Stephanie Brown said she preferred Copley Place to South Bay Shopping Center.

"I went to South Bay one year and I was like, 'get me out of here!'" said Brown. "It was like Armageddon. It was like the end of the world! The parking situation was horrible, the lines were out of control. People were just so rude."

Not everyone was out looking for gifts for their loved ones--Natasha Henry said she was shopping not for others, but for herself.

"I just want to see what's on sale," Henry said. "Last minute sales. From me to me."
