Driver Thankful To Be Alive After Chock Block Hits Windshield On Route 24
BOSTON (CBS) - Jerome Dunbar is thankful he's alive after coming head-on with a chock block that came flying straight into his windshield.
"The glass completely shattered. And the dust from the glass flew into my face which is why I needed to be transported to the hospital," Dunbar said.
Jerome says he was driving southbound on Rte. 24 in Brockton on his way to visit his dad in the hospital when out of nowhere the object came flying straight at him.
"This was by far the most shocking because I wasn't prepared for anything. I just seen the object," Dunbar said.
State Police say Jerome was just one of many cars extremely damaged when a tire and chock-block came off of a Ford pickup striking three different vehicles and sending four people to the hospital, including a pregnant woman with her child. None of the injuries are life threatening.
Fortunately Jerome's entire windshield didn't completely break all the way through. The driver of the pickup did stop once he realized what had happened.
"They need to be a better job securing their cargo," Dunbar said.
Right now Jerome is without wheels but very thankful he survived this accident which could've been a lot worse.
