Fifth-grade boy hit by car at Beverly High School in stable condition

BEVERLY - The fifth-grade student hit by a car at Beverly High School on Wednesday afternoon is expected to recover.

Police said the boy was walking along an access road on the high school campus when he was hit by a car. He suffered upper-body injuries and was taken to the hospital. The boy's family has said he is in stable condition. 

The driver stayed on the scene and cooperated with the investigation. No charges are expected.

"Our thoughts are with our student, and we wish him a full and speedy recovery," Beverly Superintendent Suzanne Charochak said.
