Gov. Charlie Baker Gets COVID-19 Vaccine At Hynes Mass Vaccination Site: 'I Feel Great'
BOSTON (CBS) - Governor Charlie Baker got his first COVID-19 vaccination on Tuesday afternoon in Boston. Baker, 64, got his first dose of the Pfizer vaccine at the Hynes Convention Center mass vaccination site.
"I pre-registered, was notified last week that I was now eligible to make an appointment, and I did," Baker said after he was monitored for 15 minutes following the shot. "So far, I feel great."
"This vaccine is a critical tool to help end the pandemic. It's also a critical tool to help people feel safe and to help them protect themselves, their families, their friends, their co-workers, their neighbors, and their community."
The governor emphasized that the vaccine was safe, works against variants, and that you can't get COVID from the shot.
"I think for all of us, one of the biggest and most emotional elements associated with getting vaccinated is the possibility and the opportunity to once again be able to show some love and affection to those we care about most," Baker said.
There will be more than 800,000 vaccine doses coming into Massachusetts this week.
