Celtics Part Ways With Jared Sullinger, Making Him Unrestricted Free Agent
BOSTON (CBS) -- Jared Sullinger is headed to unrestricted free agency after the Boston Celtics rescinded his qualifying offer and exemption rights on Saturday. SB Nation Celtics writer Kevin O'Connor confirmed the news in a tweet over the weekend.
Sullinger, 24, tweeted "Change is coming" last Wednesday while speculation swirled around him about his status with the Celtics. He was previously a restricted free agent.
Elsewhere in the Celtics frontcourt, Tyler Zeller has yet to sign a new contract after receiving a qualifying offer from the team but has drawn interest from the Los Angeles Lakers. In addition to making a major free agent signing in former Hawks center Al Horford, the team retained Amir Johnson by exercising his option for next season.
Sullinger averaged 11.1 points and 7.7 rebounds in 24.9 minutes per game with the Celtics in four seasons.
