Celtics At 7: Clippers Loss A Best Case Scenario For C's Fans
BOSTON (CBS) - The recent struggles of the Boston Celtics has them dropping in the playoff race, but climbing in the lottery standings.
And for Adam Jones, that's the best-case scenario.
In Thursday's edition of "Celtics At 7," Jones says the Celtics put up a good fight in their most recent loss to the L.A. Clippers on Wednesday night, and in the end that's the best case scenario for this team.
"That's the kind of performance I want. You go in and play against a top team, you hang with them but still lose – that's the best case scenario," said Jones.
"I don't want to see the Oklahoma City and Denver match-ups where guys are giving up in the first quarter. I want to see a team that hangs in there, tries hard, but isn't that good," he said. "You're not going to hang in every game, but that was closer to the type of performances we say earlier in the year for the Celtics, and personally what I want to see from the Celtics."
Boston's recent woes have them back in the bottom 10 in the league, improving their chances in the lottery this summer.
"Right now they'd pick eighth with their own pick and 20th (with the Nets' pick). I look that over and say this is already going better than I anticipated, because they're right there to get into the mix of even the top four picks," said Jones.
"They'll have to do some work to catch Utah, Milwaukee and Orlando... but they're in a pretty good spot if you're in the 'best asset possible' (group), and I don't know why you wouldn't be," Jones continued. "I don't know why you wouldn't want to see them getting closer and closer to number one, or the odds of getting number one."
Jones and Keefe also discussed how Brad Stevens will be judged after his first season, and Jared Sullinger's recent string of flagrant fouls:
