Carjacking Spree Suspect Ordered Held Without Bail

BOSTON (CBS/AP) — A man charged with a carjacking spree that spanned six communities was arraigned Tuesday afternoon in his hospital bed.

Donald Hall, 28, of Everett, was arrested Monday afternoon when he crashed a stolen SUV in Bedford. He spent the night in the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center with serious but non life-threatening injuries.

He pleaded not guilty to several charges Tuesday including armed assault to rob a person over 60 years old; armed carjacking, resisting arrest, carrying a firearm without a license, possessing ammunition without a FID card, speeding, operating with a suspended license, subsequent offense, negligent operation, and failing to stop for police.

Police said they believe Hall stole a car in Haverhill late Sunday night, then abandoned it in Newton and stole another from a home there Monday.

An officer trying to stop him in West Newton Square fired at Hall when he allegedly tried to run down the officer. Police said Hall then hit three cars, injuring a driver, and escaped.

According to police, he then carjacked a pickup truck in Billerica and fired at officers who pursued him in nearby Carlisle.

He crashed the pickup into a tree in Concord and then allegedly stole an SUV from a nearby parking lot and drove to Bedford.

The chase ended when Hall crashed the car into a telephone pole.

Neighbors told WBZ-TV Hall argued constantly with his girlfriend and police were frequently looking for him.
