Lyft Driver's Car Shot On Route 93 In Braintree

BRAINTREE (CBS) – State Police are looking for a driver who fired two gunshots at another car on Route 93 early Tuesday morning.

A Lyft driver was in a Toyota Prius on I-93 north in Braintree when he claims a man in a Dodge Charger shot at him around 5:20 a.m.

The Toyota driver was not hurt. He pulled off the highway and flagged down a state trooper on Furnace Brook Parkway in Quincy.

"He was very upset, it was a close call," recalled State Police Officer Andrew Chiachio.

The bullet would have entered at about shoulder's height had it entered the front door.

"The trooper located a possible bullet hole in a rear door of the victim's car, which also had a broken window," State Police spokesman Dave Procopio said in a statement.

"We notified area departments to be on the lookout for a vehicle matching the description of the shooter's car."

Police said the Lyft driver, who was on his way to Logan Airport, believes two men were in the front seat of the dark colored Dodge Charger.

Lyft said in a statement that they were "shocked by this incredibly frightening incident. As soon as we were made aware of this incident, we reached out to the driver to check on his well-being. We stand ready to assist law enforcement in any investigation."

No other information is available at this point in the investigation.
