Diver killed when car crashes off bridge into river in South Hampton, New Hampshire
SOUTH HAMPTON, N.H. - A driver died after his car plunged into a frigid river in South Hampton, New Hampshire Thursday night.
First responders said the man was driving on Hilldale Avenue when he hit a guardrail and the car crashed into the Powwow River.
A neighbor called 911. Police said the car was swept under the bridge.
There was a massive effort to rescue the man, including several divers in cold water suits. The driver was rushed to the hospital where he died. Investigators believe he was the only person in the car.
There's no word yet on what caused the crash.
