Cape Cod Volunteers Send Christmas Care Packages To Troops
BOURNE (CBS) -- Troops deployed overseas will receive special gift packages this holiday season, thanks in part to more than 100 volunteers at Cape Cod.
Volunteers with the non-profit organization Cape Cod Cares for the Troops came together this weekend for its 7th annual Christmas Care Package party. More than 1500 Christmas care packages were assembled and loaded onto trucks to be shipped to troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan during the holidays.
The organization was founded by then 12-year-old Dylan DeSilva. DaSilva has now graduated from college and lives in Ohio, but still manages the program from afar.
Anyone who would like to volunteer packing care packages or make a monetary donation to help with the cost of shipping can do so by visiting www.capecod4thetroops.com
