Burglary Suspect Caught On Video Inside Fitchburg Home
FITCHBURG (CBS) - Neighbors who live on and around Arlington Street in Fitchburg are hoping surveillance pictures captured by a smart-thinking homeowner can put an end to what they describe as months of anxiety.
Residents say someone - or some group - has been breaking into their homes and cars since April. One victim decided to install a security camera in her kitchen after being burglarized.
She was hit again in late May, and she caught the suspect on camera.
Police don't know what other crimes this particular suspect may be responsible for, but neighbors have reported dozens of car and house break-ins at all hours of the day.
"It's been scary stuff, very scary stuff," explains homeowner Beth Chandonait, who has lived here for decades and never seen anything like this. Her house was robbed just before Easter. "It's been the whole neighborhood."
"It's very serious right now," explains Sgt. Glenn Fossa of the Fitchburg Police. He says officers have increased patrols in the area, and are asking neighbors to report immediately anyone who looks suspicious.
"We're definitely concerned," Fossa added. "We've met with a lot of folks in that neighborhood."
