Escaped bull lassoed on Route 1 in North Attleboro

NORTH ATTLEBORO - The final bull on the run from a rodeo in North Attleboro, Massachusetts was captured late Monday night, more than a day after it escaped with seven other bulls.

Bulls escape rodeo

Seven bulls escaped from the one-day rodeo at the Emerald Square Mall on Route 1 Sunday afternoon. Six of the bulls were captured within hours. They were found about three miles away in a neighborhood on Prescott Street in Attleboro. No one was hurt, but one bull remained on the loose.

Rodeo employees were out on foot and on horseback again Monday, equipped with lassos, searching for the missing bull. Missing pet trackers went out with a drone and called police when they spotted the bull in the evening.

"I have to say I've never went out looking for a lost bull. This is one for the books," said Samantha Beckman with Wandering Paws K9.

WBZ-TV was there when officers responded. Cruisers followed the bull from Walmart, as it galloped toward Spirit Halloween, through the woods to Old Post Road, darting through backyards on Allen Avenue, up toward BJ's restaurant and across Route 1, returning to the Emerald Square Mall.

Trucks and trailers screeched in and as the pursuit poured out of the parking lot onto Route 1, the lassos were spinning. After a strong arm struggle the bull was finally loaded and locked in a trailer, to the relief of all.

The town and the fire department are investigating the circumstances that led up to Sunday's escape.
