Svedberg First Off The Ice, Likely In Net For Bruins vs. Predators

BOSTON (CBS) - The Boston Bruins have been trying to get a look at netminder Niklas Svedberg at the NHL level, and it appears that will finally happen Thursday night when the Bruins host the Nashville Predators.

Svedberg was recalled from Providence Thursday morning, and was the first goalie off the ice at after the team's morning skate, a sign that he will likely be between the pipes for Boston as they look to snap a two-game skid.

Preview: Bruins-Predators

Svedberg has appeared in 22 games for the Providence Bruins this season, racking up a 13-5-3 record with a 2.87 goals against average, .909 save percentage and one shutout.

Boston called up the 24-year-old last week in hopes of getting him some NHL action, but a slew of injuries to the defense caused the Bruins to send him back to Providence to make room for reinforcements on the blue-line.

Thursday night will be the NHL debut for Svedberg, who has played in a total of 70 games for Providence since joining the team in 2012, going 50-13-5.
