Man Charged With OUI, Assault After Truck Hits Building

BROCKTON (CBS) -- Police said the driver of a truck that hit a main street building was driving under the influence and assaulted a nurse at the scene of the crash.

Tyler Mullen, 20, of Stoughton, was charged with reckless and negligent operation of a motor vehicle, operating under the influence of liquor, operating with a suspended license, and assault.

Witnesses say Mullen was speeding prior to the crash, which happened around 11:30 p.m. Saturday night when Mullen's vehicle struck a building on Main and Belmont Streets in Brockton and flipped on its side.

An off-duty nurse stopped by scene to help. Police said they saw Mullen take a swing at the nurse as he was getting out of the truck.

The commercial building was unoccupied, and did not suffer major structural damage.

Mullen was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, and will be summonsed to court at a later date.
