Brockton Man Charged In Fatal Hit-And-Run

BROCKTON, Mass. (CBS/AP) — A Brockton man charged in connection with a fatal weekend hit-and-run faced a judge Monday.

Thirty-five-year-old Dana Waller was arraigned on charges including manslaughter, motor vehicle homicide and leaving the scene after causing personal injury or death. The judge ordered Waller held on $100,000 bail. He must also surrender his passport.

Police say Waller struck 37-year-old Edward Dill III on Nilsson Street at about 2 a.m. Saturday.

Dill was found "unresponsive and suffering from obvious trauma," in the street and was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police arrested Waller after determining he was driving the maroon SUV that fled the scene after hitting Dill.

The accident remains under investigation and an autopsy is scheduled.

Waller is due back in court in June.
