Public Hearing Scheduled For Brockton Casino Proposal
BROCKTON, Mass. (AP) — Massachusetts gambling regulators are giving the public a chance to weigh in on a resort casino proposed for Brockton.
The state Gaming Commission is holding a hearing Tuesday afternoon on Mass Gaming & Entertainment's proposed $677 million casino, hotel and entertainment complex for the Brockton Fairgrounds.
The hearing takes place at Massasoit Community College in Brockton starting at 4 p.m. No votes or decisions are expected.
The company, a subsidiary of Chicago's Rush Street Gaming, is the lone applicant for the state's third and final resort casino license, which is reserved for the southeastern region.
If approved, the project may have to compete with a resort casino the Mashpee Wampanoag tribe is developing nearby in Taunton. The Plainridge Park racetrack and casino also opened last summer in Plainville.
