Brock Holt Starting In Center Field For Red Sox

BOSTON (CBS) -- The Year of the Brock Holt will have a new chapter on Tuesday night.

The now-super utility man will make his first career start in center field Tuesday night as the Red Sox continue their three-game series against the Minnesota Twins.

Center will be Holt's fifth position of the season. He was already the only major leaguer to make starts at first base, third base, right field and left field prior to the game, and he'll soon have another position to add to his growing resume.

Holt leads all major league rookies with a .333 average this season, and has reached base safely in 23 of his 25 starts as Boston's leadoff hitter. The need for Holt in center came about when the Red Sox designated the struggling Grady Sizemore for assignment.

Here is the full Red Sox lineup for Tuesday night's game against the Twins:

1. Brock Holt, CF
2. Xander Bogaerts, 3B
3. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
4. David Ortiz, DH
5. Mike Napoli, 1B
6. Daniel Nava, RF
7. Jonny Gomes, LF
8. Stephen Drew, SS
9. David Ross, C
-- Jon Lester, P

The Red Sox will be opposed by right-hander Phillip Hughes, who is 3-1 with a 2.56 ERA in his last five starts against Boston. Both David Ortiz and Mike Napoli have enjoyed success against Hughes, with Ortiz batting .360 (9-for-25) and Napoli .417 (5-for-12) against him. They each have hit two homers off Hughes in their careers.
